Andrew has over twenty years’ experience in assisting doctors in a variety of forums, including claims for negligence, the Coroners Court, AHPRA, Medicare, Drugs & Poisons Regulation, the Fair Work Commission, disputes with training colleges, hospitals and WorkSafe.  Andrew also has a significant criminal practice involving defending health practitioners charged with a variety of criminal offences.  He has particular expertise in dealing with employment disputes, including claims for unfair dismissal and complaints of bullying and harassment.

He also deals extensively with matters involving AHPRA, including assisting health practitioners with the immediate action process, complaints about a variety of professional misconduct or health issues, and attending with health practitioners at Performance and Professional Standards Panel hearings, health assessments, performance assessment, and in more serious matters, at VCAT.

Andrew advises health practitioners on their rights and responsibilities in relation to a broad range of medico‑legal issues, AHPRA matters, Medicare, employment disputes, criminal prosecutions and disputes with training colleges.

Andrew brings timely, sensible and practical advice to any situation where a health practitioner finds themselves in some form of trouble or dispute related to their practice.  He presents regularly at industry conference and seminars.

Andrew has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 editions of Best Lawyers® Australia for Medical Negligence (as published in the Australian Financial Review).  He has been recognised in the Doyles Legal Guide Melbourne 2020/2021 as one of the recommended tier of Medical Negligence Lawyers (Defendant).
